There is a good new for the millions of taxpayer in the country that the govt has planned to extend the last date to file income tax returns. As per the top TV news channels and eminent news papers that the last date to file the income tax return has been extented to August 5, 2016 by the government. Normally the last date for filing of returns for individuals is July 31.
Tax returns for 2015-16 (assessment year 2016-17) were originally to be filed by July 31. But in view of the day-long strike at public sector banks, the deadline has been extended to August 5, 2016.
For Jammu and Kashmir, the deadline will be August 31 in view of the ongoing disturbance in the state.
